  • Being responsible

  • Being disciplined

That’s why they’re so convincing.

 

They don’t stop you from functioning.
They stop you from seeing clearly.

 

When your perception is filtered through these patterns, you keep repeating the same experiences even while trying to “do better.”

 

 


 

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THESE PATTERNS GO UNNOTICED

 

When mind blocks run in the background, you may notice:

  • Constant overthinking

  • Emotional exhaustion

  • Loss of curiosity

  • Quiet resentment

  • Living by expectations instead of alignment

WHY I WORK WITH MIND BLOCKS IN MY COACHING

 

Back in 2018, I was reading "Mindfuck" by Petra Bock, and the framework immediately clicked.

 

Not as theory, but as something I could see in myself.

 

It helped me recognize 2 mind blocks that were quietly running my life: Denial and Over-Motivation.
I was pushing forward while ignoring my inner signals… staying busy instead of being honest.

 

That awareness alone created a shift.

 

When I later launched BeYu Wellness, I adapted this framework not to label or categorize clients, but to help them observe themselves without judgment.

 

Because real mindset shifts don’t start with forcing new thoughts.
They start with awareness.

THE 7 MIND BLOCKS TO NOTICE IN YOURSELF

 

As you read these, don’t try to fix anything.
Just notice which ones feel familiar.

 

That recognition is the work.

 

1) CATASTROPHIC MIND BLOCK

 

 

What it is
You create worst-case scenarios in your mind and emotionally react to them as if they are already happening.

 

Why it happens
Your mind learned that anticipating danger felt safer than facing uncertainty. Fear becomes a way to feel in control.

 

How it shows up

  • “If I do this, everything could go wrong.”

  • “One mistake could ruin everything.”

 

2) VALUES MIND BLOCK 

 

 

What it is
You measure your life against the values, standards, or timelines of others instead of your own inner compass.

 

Why it happens
Your mind learned that belonging and approval came from meeting external expectations, not from self-directed choice.

 

How it shows up

  • “This is what success should look like.”

  • “I should want what others want.”

  

3) DENIAL MIND BLOCK

 

 

What it is
You suppress your own needs and inner signals while consistently prioritizing others’ interests.

 

Why it happens
Your mind learned that staying agreeable or invisible helped avoid conflict and maintain harmony.

 

How it shows up

  • “It’s not about me.”

  • “My needs can wait.”

 

4) OPPRESSION MIND BLOCK

 

 

What it is
You internally pressure, criticize, or threaten yourself to control outcomes.

 

Why it happens
Your mind learned that strict self-control felt safer than uncertainty, vulnerability, or allowing things to unfold.

 

How it shows up

  • “I should be better than this.”

  • “I can’t allow myself to fail.”

 

5) INSECURITY MIND BLOCK

 

 

What it is
You experience persistent self-doubt and mistrust toward others, often questioning intentions or looking for hidden risks.

 

Why it happens
Your mind learned that staying alert and suspicious reduced the chance of being hurt or disappointed.

 

How it shows up

  • “What if they’re hiding something?”

  • “I can’t fully trust this.”

 

6) FORMALISM MIND BLOCK

 

 

What it is
You adopt a belief, rule, or ideal and stop questioning it, living life strictly through that lens.

 

Why it happens
Your mind learned that fixed rules created structure and certainty, making life feel more predictable.

 

How it shows up

  • “That’s just how things are.”

  • “This isn’t how it’s done.”

 

7) OVER-MOTIVATION MIND BLOCK

 

 

What it is
You rely on excitement, urgency, or constant drive to feel okay, while avoiding deeper reflection.

 

Why it happens
Your mind learned that momentum and activity helped bypass discomfort, doubt, or difficult questions.

 

How it shows up

  • “I feel driven, so everything must be fine.”

  • “I’ll think about this later.”

  • The parent enforces learned rules

  • The adult observes and chooses

 

3) REBUILD CURIOSITY, CONFIDENCE, AND ENTHUSIASM 

 

Children live this naturally.
Life often brushes it out of us.
We consciously bring it back.
