FEELING LOST AT MIDLIFE?
Jul 20, 2025
I remember May 2017 so vividly.
Just a few months earlier, in February, I had moved to Huntington Beach, CA—a place that felt exciting and unknown, and would later become the city I call home.
Around the same time, I stepped into a new role at Irvine Company. On the outside, it looked like everything was falling into place:
- A respected company,
- A fresh start by the ocean,
- A chance to build something meaningful.
But inside? I was caught in a quiet conflict.
Part of me kept doing the things I’d always done—the habits, the patterns, the safe choices I knew how to manage. Another part of me was scared of what was ahead, unsure who I was becoming or if I was ready for it.
Living in that limbo robbed me of being fully present. Even with new surroundings and opportunities, I felt disconnected from myself.
If you’ve ever felt that way—stuck between the life you’ve built and the life you actually want—you’re not alone.
WHAT IS A MIDLIFE CRISIS, REALLY?
A midlife crisis isn’t about rash decisions or signing up for another degree, jumping into a new car lease, or chasing a trendy job title just to feel better.
At its core, it’s an internal conflict.
It’s when the life you’ve been living no longer aligns with who you are becoming.
It’s the moment your external success collides with your internal truth.
And when that collision happens, you might feel:
- A deep sense of restlessness, like something’s missing
- A growing disconnection from your work, your relationships, even yourself
- A quiet ache for meaning and purpose
It’s not a breakdown—it’s a breakthrough trying to happen.
WHY DOES A MIDLIFE CRISIS HAPPEN?
People often assume it’s triggered by a big event—a layoff, a milestone birthday, or a divorce. But underneath, something deeper has been building for years.
Over time, without even noticing, you can drift away from who you truly are. Here’s how it often happens:
YOUR IDENTITY QUIETLY SHIFTS
Think back to your college years. Back then, your identity was shaped by curiosity—what you loved learning, the new experiences that excited you, and the endless possibilities ahead.
But once you step into career life, something changes. You begin defining yourself by your job title, deadlines, and promotions. Without meaning to, you go from asking “Who am I?” to “What do I do?”
You start wearing many hats—employee, parent, partner, provider—and somewhere along the way, the real you gets buried under all those roles.
YOUR DEFINITION OF SUCCESS EVOLVES
In your early twenties, success might have meant a certain salary, a certain car, or a certain apartment view.
But as the years go by, those achievements don’t feel as fulfilling as you expected. You start craving something deeper—work that aligns with your values, relationships that feel genuine, and a life that feels authentic, not just impressive on the outside.
THE INNER TRIGGERS
For me, this realization didn’t come from a dramatic event. It happened on an ordinary Friday night in 2017.
I remember standing in my apartment in Huntington Beach, debating with myself:
Do I go out like I always have, or do I stay in, rest, and wake up early to play beach volleyball—a new habit that actually makes me feel alive?
It wasn’t really about nightlife versus volleyball. It was a turning point where I saw how much of my life was being lived on autopilot, rather than by conscious design.
SEEING THE BIGGER PICTURE
Looking back, those moments—my shifting identity, my evolving idea of success, and those small inner conflicts—made one thing clear: I had outgrown parts of my life. I was ready for something more.
And that’s when I asked myself: How do I move forward with clarity and ease?
Here’s what helped me—and what can help you too.
HOW TO NAVIGATE MIDLIFE CRISIS SMOOTHLY
You might feel stuck right now, but this isn’t here to break you.
It’s here to guide you back to yourself.
1) GET CLARITY ON WHO YOU ARE
When you don’t know who you are beyond your roles, every decision feels like a guess. That’s exactly where I was—unsure, second‑guessing, and stuck in patterns that no longer fit.
The Identity Clarification Workbook helps you break through that fog by giving you:
✅ A 5‑minute Self‑Check Audit to spot the identity patterns holding you back
✅ A guided visualization to connect with your future self
✅ Personalized affirmations to shift your inner dialogue
This is where clarity starts—seeing yourself, and your potential, clearly.
2) FIND YOUR PURPOSE
I remember achieving milestone after milestone yet still feeling empty inside. Have you felt that? Like you’ve done everything “right” but something’s still missing?
I created The Purpose Clarity Workbook for that exact feeling. Inside you’ll find:
✅ Reflection prompts to rediscover what energizes and fulfills you
✅ Exercises to uncover your core drivers
✅ A personalized “Purpose Map” to align your next chapter
Instead of drifting, you’ll know where you’re going—and why it matters.
3) REVISIT YOUR CORE VALUES
When you’re unclear on your values, you say yes to things that drain you. That was me—overcommitting, people‑pleasing, and feeling out of sync with myself.
This complimentary questionnaire helps you:
✅ Gain clarity in your decisions—you know what fits and what doesn’t
✅ Set boundaries that protect your energy
✅ Live with a stronger sense of fulfillment
Fill it out and your personalized results will be emailed to you—ready to guide your next steps.
YOU'RE NOT LOST—YOU'RE BECOMING
Even when life feels uncertain, remember this:
